Are we in a comedy or a tragedy? I look around for some clues. There is a kind of marriage plot. That suggests comedy. Daisy has a giant moustache. That could go either way. She is either the comic hero of a neoclassical masterpiece or a walk-on part offering some light relief. Perhaps it is I who has the noble purpose? Might everything follow from an examination of my flaws? At this point, Daisy trots up. She has perfect comic timing. Flaws, I say. Not paws. But this has clinched it. We are in a comedy, no doubt about it. Everything is going to work out just fine. We’ve just got to keep an eye on those tragic paws.
