Daisy’s problem

Daisy stands at the back door and releases a woof. Now, Daisy’s woof is a response to a problem, namely the door is shut and on its latch and no matter how much scrabbling occurs or how much paint is removed, it will not open. The woof is noise. The woof is nonsense. But there is meaning in the woof because of the problem. Inside, I recognise the woof. How happy Daisy is to see me arrive at the door! How she grimaces, kindly, with the lifting of the latch! And so it is she asks: what is addressed by these marks on your page? What is the meaning of all this noise? What is your problem?
